Brilliant BBC..
For those who are in love with India, I suggest watching "The Story of India" by Micheal Wood. It is available on You tube. This was suggested by one of my relatives (Mouli). Truly an enriching experience. I wish history were taught this way in school. Certain parts of the documentary moved me to such an extent that tears started rolling down my eyes (For that matter even the movie "Swades" did) . You will realize at the end of the documentary that India never belonged to any particular set of people. This land had embraced all those who came here (most of them, from aryans to the mughals came from the North West). This, i believe is the most profound message of the documentary. Here I am inclined to draw parallels to the brilliant book " Discovery of India" written by Nehru. According to the book , India was a culturally unified country for centuries, though political unification came only in 1947. And we all know Pakistan/Bangladesh were political creations. The ideas expounded in the documentary are indeed profound in these times of right-winged propaganda, that views and projects Indian history through a blinkered lens.
Truly journalism at its best...
